LIMESIDE King George stormed into the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup final thanks to a 6-0 last-four victory against stunned Royton Athletic.

Wayne Ware and Liam Cashmore led the way with two goals apiece, while Leon Melia and Joe Heap completed the rout. They will now meet other finalists Fitton Hill Rangers in the final, who saw off Jolly Carter 5-2.

In the Jack Abbott Premier Division, champions Rifle Range ‘A’ secured a commanding 5-3 victory against Coppice United, for whom Steve Barrow bagged a hat-trick.

Lee Mallitt, Andrew Walker, Ryan Fagan, Jonathan Shaw and Joseph Francis were on target for Range.

Mike King scored twice for Oldham GPO as they surged to the David Giblin Division One title thanks to a 4-2 win at Springhead Libs ‘A’.

Michael Wood and Danny Lomas were also on target, while Marcus Garnes and Damian McKenzie replied for the Libs.

WAYNE Ware was among the goals again for Limeside King George on Tuesday, bagging four as they thumped Limeside FC 10-3 in a Supplementary Cup Group ‘F’ clash.
Cashmore scored two, while Martin Gurr, Melia, Heap and Wayne Berry also netted. Jord (two) and D Ogden replied.

OLDHAM Hulmeians kept their Lancashire Amateur League Division One promotion hopes alive thanks to Monday’s thrilling 3-2 home victory against Horwich RMI.
The Maroons’ 15th win of the season began with Johnny Pauley volleying home spectacularly in the 15th minute.

As the game headed toward the final minute and with Hulmeians’ promotion hopes seemingly dead and buried, Gareth Hill bagged a potentially priceless winner when he beat two defenders before curling an exquisite shot into the top corner.

With two games remaining, Hulmeians have to win both and hope North Walkden slip up in their last match if promotion to the Premier Division is to be achieved.

Hulmeians were beaten 5-0 at Thornleigh at the weekend.
