BOXING: OLDHAM’S Ronnie Heffron is gunning for Joe Selkirk - and is determined to wrestle the WBO European light-middleweight title away from the Scouser at the Manchester Arena on July 26 .

Heffron (23) will tackle unbeaten ace Selkirk (28) in a chief support bout on the mouth-watering Tyson Fury versus Dereck Chisora British and European heavyweight clash undercard.

It promises to be a superb night of action, and Heffron is relishing the prospect of fighting at the huge venue for the first time in his professional career.

Heffron said: “It’s all about gearing up for Selkirk now. This is a big chance for me, but one I’ve had to wait for. I’m quite surprised he’s agreed to come over to Manchester for it – that suits me just fine. I’m hoping to have massive support on the night.”

Selkirk has won all his 12 bouts as a pro. He claimed the European title in December when he stopped Zoltan Sera in the third round.

Heffron, who has now switched training camp again to Oliver Harrison’s Gym in Salford, beat unbeaten John Thain last month to stretch his pro record to 15 wins from 16 outings.
