Paddock derby battle
Date published: 06 June 2014
CRICKET: TWENTY20 action returns to Lake Garage CLL tonight (6.15pm).
Leading the way is a clash between Royton and Werneth at the Paddock. Royton can virtually book their place in the last eight of the competition with victory, having defeated Ashton in their first South-East group match.
Werneth, on the other hand, went down by a single run to Oldham in their opening game and must win to harbour hopes of progressing.
Oldham host Ashton knowing that victory will leave them in a strong position to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Crompton’s geographical status means the club is annually placed in one of the hardest groups — the North-East section features two CLL powerhouses, Littleborough and Walsden, while Milnrow are also strong.
Crompton will do well to get out of the group. A home match with Walsden represents a big challenge for Simon Wright’s men.
