Moorside has retained classy professional Grant Hodnett for the 2015 cricket season.

The 31 year old has carried on where he left off at Bamford Fieldhouse - by plundering plenty of runs for his new club.

Hodnett has earned rich praise for his coaching skills and fitness work with the players. And his work behind the scenes has been matched on it, with 447 runs this season so far — an average of almost 90, impressive figures anyway, more so when you consider three of the games were abandoned because of rain. Grant has also taken 18 wickets.

First-team captain Danny Anchor said: “We can’t speak highly enough of the unbelievable impact Grant has made at Moorside. It was a case of getting him under contract for 2015 before clubs started sniffing around.

“Team-mates Glen McFadyean and Fran Sutherland were thinking about packing up, but this news may mean they stay on for another year. All we need to do now is tie down Francois Mostert (the club’s overseas amateur) for next season too.”
