Diggle trial for Butterworth

ANGLING
CHRIS Butterworth took first place in Tuesday evening’s Diggle AC match on Tanner’s Dam.
His 21lb 6oz catch contained five carp and some skimmers, all taken on pole and meat.
Paul Jones bagged second place with 13lb 10oz of carp and skimmers tempted on this method.
Les Gardener was third with 13lb 6oz of carp on meat.
THE Bridgewater and Leeds-Liverpool Canals at Leigh fished well for Sunday’s Lauren Pilkington-Smith memorial, with organiser Danny Martin trouncing the rest of the field with seven good skimmers and over 8lb of roach taken on hemp, adding up to a super 25lb 7oz.
Oldham anglers performed quite well with Ged Martin and Ken Power (both Tri-Cast Highfield) netting fifth and sixth on the day with 5lb and 4lb 12oz respectively.
SEVERAL local anglers did well in the 17th Ken Edwards memorial match on the match lake at Border Fisheries.
Martin Taylor (Matrix Halifax) won his section with 24lb 8oz, as did James Cantello (Tri-Cast, 24lb 12oz) and Dave Holland (Tri-Cast, 22lb 10oz).
