GREENFIELD must be sick of the sight of Heyside professional Shadley van Schalkwyk.

Launching the ball to all parts of the Little Hey Street ground, the South African smashed a career-best 222 not out in an emphatic 183-run victory in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League clash.

Van Schalkwyk took apart the Greenfield attack in round two of the Tanner Cup at the beginning of June. On that occasion hit his then highest score of 158, while in the reverse league fixture in May he claimed a hat-trick among a seven-wicket haul.

daunting

Batting at number four yesterday, the 25-year-old’s knock featured a stunning 24 sixes and 11 fours in a daunting total of 341 for five.

Greenfield slumped to 158 all out in reply, with spinner Danny Cashin bagging five for 26.

The result saw Heyside climb to third place after Uppermill’s nine-wicket loss at Stayley.

Pete Roberts made 66 as the visitors to Millbrook were restricted to 116 for nine from their 45 overs. Overseas amateur Oral Rankine took five for 41.

Craig Smith struck an unbeaten 59 in the straightforward run chase.
