So far, so good insists Hulme

ROYTON skipper Denny Hulme has insisted that his team are looking up the CLL Premier Division table, and not at the three teams below them.

There have been suggestions that the Paddock outfit could get dragged into a top-flight survival battle during the latter stages of the season, but Hulme has dismissed that idea.

“We’re looking forward with confidence,” said Hulme.

“We’re looking up at the teams currently in front of us rather than those behind, definitely.

“I did set a few goals at the start of the season in the new division. The top five was the main aim because that guarantees us an LCB Cup spot.

“That’s where we are now and so I’m happy with how the season has gone so far.

“It’s been really positive to be honest. Bar the odd games against Heywood and Norden maybe, we’ve competed at the higher level.

“The amateurs have stepped up to the plate and all dug deep, and once our pro (South African Pieter Malan) really hits form then we’ll be capable of really flying.

“I can’t grumble with how this season has gone.”
