Oldham hit new low

Date published: 28 July 2014

OLDHAM slumped to the bottom of the Lake Garage CLL Championship table following a shocker of a performance yesterday at Unsworth, writes SIMON SMEDLEY.

Heading to the game on the back of scoring just 65 runs 24 hours earlier against Crompton, Rashid Hussain's men were all out for a measly 31 at Unsworth — the lowest team score of the 2014 season — as home professional Chris Williams took four wickets for only 14 runs.

Unsworth cruised to a maximum 10-wicket win as they breezed through their reply.

Elsewhere in the second tier high-flying Crompton were left frustrated by Milnrow.

Batting first, Crompton scored 243 for seven as overseas ace Denis Louis scored 66 and Andy Yates 44.

However, Milnrow dug in late in their reply and ended the day on 239 for eight.

Max Power led the way with a smart 68, while overseas prospect Jackson Knight struck 62.

Skipper Simon Wright took three for 59 for Crompton.
