FOOTBALL:

HOT-shot Mitchell Bryant earned Mossley a replay after their FA Cup preliminary round tie at divisional rivals Burscough ended in a 1-1 draw. The Seel Park replay will take place tomorrow night (7.45pm) .

Liam Caddick fired Burscough in front five minutes before the interval, only for Bryant to earn the Lilywhites a second bite at the cherry when he replied just past the hour.

Mossley have been handed an away trip to North-West Counties League top flight side Glossop North End in the first round of the Robinsons Brewery Manchester FA Premier Cup. The tie is on October 7.

Chadderton will host Conference North side Hyde, while Oldham Boro welcome big-spending Evo-Stik League side Salford City.

CHADDERTON came crashing down to earth following an impressive start to their season in the

North-West Counties League First Division.

Hosting AFC Darwen, previously fifth-placed Chaddy were thumped 6-1. Clive Best scored Chaddy’s solitary goal with 15 minutes to go.

OLDHAM BORO fared little better, conceding five goals for the third time in four games.

Tony Mills’ side was hammered 5-1 at home by league new boys Barnton, with Nathan Adams netting for Boro shortly after the interval.

Matthew Rigby (three), Michael Thompson and Leon Knight scored for Barnton.

Chadderton travel to Barnton on Saturday, while Boro host 1874 Northwich at Seel Park in the FA Vase on Sunday.
