Non-league football: MOSSLEY produced the perfect response to their acute FA Cup disappointment in midweek by thumping Lancaster City 3-0 in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.

The Dolly Blues are managed by ex-Newcastle United star Darren Peacock, with former England and Manchester City ace Trevor Sinclair currently his assistant, but their team were second-best throughout as the Lilywhites notched their first home win of the season in style.

In-form Mitchell Bryant bagged the opener just after half-time, before Tom Pratt scored twice in five minutes — the second goal from the penalty spot.

The three points lifted Mossley to 11th place in the table ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to fellow mid-table side Bamber Bridge (7.45pm kick-off).

OLDHAM BORO crashed out of the FA Carlsberg Vase after extra-time as they were beaten 2-0 by North-West Counties League First Division rivals 1874 Northwich at Seel Park yesterday.
The first qualifying round tie ended goalless after 90 minutes, and it wasn’t until the final five minutes of the extra half-hour when Matthew Ward and Sakeel Abdulla scored for Northwich to seal the visitors' passage into the next round.

CHADDERTON lost their First Division fixture 1-0 at new club Barnton.

Colin Quirk scored the only goal of the game after 63 minutes.

Chadderton are back in league action tomorrow when they host Cheadle Town (7.45pm kick-off).
