CRICKET: HEYSIDE hope to end their 57-year association with the Saddleworth and District Cricket League by winning a competition in which they have proved to be almost unbeatable.

The Little Hey Street club moves into the Central Lancashire League next season, but has unfinished business first.

Finals day in the Twenty20 Cup is at Uppermill CC tomorrow. Heyside hope for a third win in a row after beating Hollinwood and Moorside in the last two finals - and a fifth in total after wins in 2009 and 2010. They were runners-up in 2011, to Saddleworth, who are also in action tomorrow.

Before the side can think about the final, they must first beat Glodwick, celebrating their first Saddleworth League title.

Uppermill hope to complete a quickfire double over Saddleworth in the first semi-final at 10.30am.

Tomorrow’s hosts swept aside their last-four opponents last Sunday, and skipper Dave Roberts would like another convincing display as the club seeks a first triumph in the competition.

With the top five places set in stone, the only thing left to play for in the final league matches on Sunday is pride.
