THE Manchester Youth and Mini Soccer League kicked off the new season in style at its new home in Failsworth.

The league is one of the largest mini and youth soccer leagues in the region and is based at Failsworth Sports Campus and Soccer Centre every Saturday morning.

The league hosts 111 teams a week across seven age groups, from under sevens to under 13s — with more than 1,300 children taking part. Over 200 coaches and volunteers are actively involved every week.

The Failsworth Sports Campus was officially opened in July by Manchester City legends Mike Summerbee and Tony Book, with the President of the Football Foundation Lord Pendry.

The sports campus is open for community use every day of the week.

League chairman John Taylor said: “The facilities are great and we are happy to have Failsworth Sports Campus as a venue.”

Natalie Craig of Failsworth School, added: “We are extremely proud to host the league. Today has been a great start to the season.”
