Snooker: HOT snooker prospect Ryan Davies has pocketed his first century break - at the age of 12!
Newman RC School pupil Ryan nailed his 100 break at a recent EASB regional snooker tour clash at the National Snooker Centre in Leeds.
The supremely talented Ryan, from Royton, now holds the English record, having beaten current superstar Judd Trump to his first ton break by two years.
It was a proud moment for Ryan and his delighted dad, Martin, who described the moment his young hopeful notched the magical three figures.
“Ryan was on 93, having pocketed the final red, and was set up for the black,” recalled Martin.
“The colours were due next, but rather than thinking ahead he just rolled in the black, made it to 100, and went on to miss the yellow as he had gone out of position.
“He didn’t bother too much about that, though. He’d got his century break and he was over the moon — we all were.
“Then the following day at the Oldham Snooker Academy he got a 99 break, practising against me!”
Ryan, whose elder brother Aaron is also a mercurial snooker talent, has now dropped pool and focuses only on snooker and billiards. He is coached by Barry Broadbent at the EBBRO snooker academy in Royton.
