Academy hosts ‘The Tornado’

SNOOKER: TONY ‘The Tornado’ Drago is playing an exhibition at the Oldham Snooker Academy on Sunday (7pm).
The 49 year old, who reached 10th in the world snooker rankings in 1998, is set to face some of the brightest prospects in the borough as well as more established local names.
Drago will first play American Pool against youngsters from Vision Youth Group, then junior and senior Oldham players will take their chance at snooker.
Regarded as one of the fastest players on the circuit, Drago once won a best-of-nine match in 34 minutes. He won the World Pool Masters tournament in 2003 and was a member of the European team defeated the US in the Mosconi Cup in 2007 and 2008
Tickets for the event at Osborne Mill, Waddington Street, are £10.
NORTH Chadd ‘A’ swept aside Chadderton Reform 5-1 in an early-season top-of-the-table clash in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
Y Khan recorded a fine break of 42 for the victors, who lead by a point.
A break of 33 saw A Hussain, of Three Cs ‘A’, defeat R White in his side’s 4-2 success against Blue Club ‘A’.
REIGNING champions Tara ‘A’ were held to a 3-3 draw by their own ‘B’ team on the opening night of the Saw Tech Shaw Snooker League.
