ANGLING: JAMES Cantello is the man to beat at Old Hough Farm Fishery.

He took top honours for the third time from the same peg in the Thursday open match on the Big Max lake.

Opting for the method feeder with micros and corn, the Tri-Cast Highfield rod enticed carp and f1s for a match-winning 62lb 5oz.

Pete Johnson was in second place, with a 56lb 11oz catch of f1s and carp on meat and corn in the margins.

PETE Mottram continued his good run of form in the Todmorden AS match on Heronbrook Fishery.

Using pole and pellet, he had bites from start to finish to weigh in 85lb 14oz of f1s. Tony Taylor was second, with a mixed bag of 77lb 7oz also falling to pellet.

ALAN Dunn emerged victorious in the first Tuesday day match on Tanners Dam.

On peg 23 he used the paste and pellet approach long to catch 26lb 8oz of skimmers and carp.

Runner-up Darren Webb opted for chopped worm and caster on the long pole from peg 11 for carp, ide and skimmers in a 20lb net.

ACCRINGTON venue Devine Fishery are staging Wednesday open matches — and they are proving quite popular, which is no surprise given the quality of the fishing on offer.

Geoff Ogden (Tight Lines) was first in the latest match. He applied maggot, caster and worm at six to nine metres for a mixed bag of 34lb, which included carp, skimmers, barbel, tench and roach.

Mike Beattie (Tight Lines) was the runner-up using similar tactics. He netted a 22lb mixed net.

The fishery is available for day tickets and 24-hour tickets for carp anglers on Specimen lake.

Wednesday opens are £16 all-in, with the draw at 9.30am. Fishing is 10.30am-3.30pm. Details, Tony on 07854 891504.
