MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has saluted new hot-shot Mitchell Bryant and backed the ex-Reading youngster to score 20 goals this season.
Bryant was on the mark again in midweek as the Lilywhites beat Scarborough Athletic to move into fourth place in the table. That’s seven for the season already for Bryant: Band feels he’s stumbled across a diamond.
“Mitch is doing okay considering we only heard about him from an email in the summer,” said Band.
“He moved up to Swinton to be with his girlfriend and we heard he was available. He’s really made his mark and says he’s loving it at Mossley. Hopefully, he’ll stick around and get up to 20 goals and maybe more.”
Bryant will get the chance to extend his scoring run tomorrow in the home fixture against mid-table Kendal Town.
A big crowd is set to converge on Ashton United’s Hurst Cross stadium as they host mega-bucks Salford City in a mouth-watering FA Cup second qualifying round tie.
CHADDERTON - awarded a £10,000 National Lottery grant to refurbish the club’s function room - are tomorrow in North-West Counties League First division action after shipping 14 goals in their last two games. They face a tough trip to fourth-placed Cammell Laird 1907.
OLDHAM BORO travel to Eccleshall following almost two weeks without a fixture.
