SNOOKER: THERE was a landmark frame in the latest round of matches in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
The match between the ‘B’ teams from Blue Club and Stanley Road ended all-square at 3-3, but featured what is believed to be the first woman player to compete in the league, Stanley Road’s Hayley Haddaway.
She almost marked her debut with a victory - Andy Gartside potted the last two colours to clinch the frame.
Meanwhile, a fine break of 51 from Danny Balcerzak, of North Chadd ‘B’, was the highlight of his side’s 4-2 defeat of visitors Deaf ‘A’. The success kept second-placed North Chadd ‘B’ within touching distance of their ‘A’ team, who triumphed by an identical scoreline against Deaf Club ‘B’
CRICKET are the new leaders of the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League after defeating previous pacesetters Tara ‘B’ 4-2. Quite a turnaround for Cricket, who finished last season bottom of the table.
