TWELVE handicapper Pete Sparks produced the round of his life to win a Werneth bogey competition with a remarkable 12 up matchplay score against the course.
He fired a gross 69 — the course par is 68 — which included a triple bogey eight at the par-five eighth.
The amazing round gave him a seven-shots winning margin over Tommy Dwayre (five up).
BLACKLEY ‘B’ completed a league and cup double as the last of the silverware was decided in the Oldham and District Golf League.
Mark Crosfield’s side needed extra holes to claim the ‘B’ League play-off final with a 3-2 win over North Manchester at Saddleworth.
Steve Kelly and Steve Murphy clinched victory for Blackley as they made a birdie at the 20th hole.
Earlier, Rick Valentine and Mark Greenhalgh (6&5) and Phil Marcroft and Arthur Tattersall (two holes) had gained wins for Blackley.
Last month they won the first part of the double by beating Fairfield ‘B’ 3.5-1.5 in the ‘B’ Cup.
