ANGLING: PETE Jackson was in superb form as he dominated the Socials AC match on Tyle Lodge.

His pole and maggot approach netted him an eye-catching 36lb 15oz net of silvers. In second place with another good weight was Steve Platts. His 23lb 15oz mixed bag also fell to pole and maggot.

A GOOD quality field took part in the latest Todmorden AS open match on the Clegg Hall and lorry park length, where there were some good weights.

Best of them, and leading a Matrix Halifax procession, was Gary Smith with a 10lb 15oz catch that included half-a-dozen skimmers and plenty of roach that fell to bread punch fished at six and 11 metres. Second best was Richard Jackson, with his bread and pinkie fished at seven and 12 metres netting 7lb 12oz of roach to eight ounces.

BARRY Holmes took first place in the Border Fishery open match on Meridian Lake.

His end peg full of good stamp carp that fell to corn fished in the margins helped him bag 40lb 10oz.

Fran Robinson was also on an end peg where he also fished in the margins for good stamp carp to weigh in 38lb 14oz, beating Anthony Williams into third.

Williams’ 38lb 12oz catch included stockies taken on pole and maggot fished on the deck next to an aerator.

DAVE Holland (Tr-Cast Highfield) took first place in the latest Northern Anglers AA open match on the Goyt Mill length of the Macclesfield Canal.

Fishing worm down the middle and squatt across, Holland caught plenty of small roach and some decent perch to weigh in 6lb 15oz.

Second best on the day was Dave Moffatt, making his long trip from Leeds worthwhile with 3lb 13oz of small roach taken on the pole and bread punch.

DANNY Keegan took first in the Todmorden AS match on Townhouse, with pole and pellet doing the damage as he tipped 53lb 2oz of carp into the weighing bag. Pete Fitton fished the same method to record a second-best 42lb 12oz of decent sized carp.

DAVE White topped the latest Diggle AS Tuesday match on an impressive Tanner’s Dam.

Drawn in the deeper water, White fished pole and pellet for six carp and 10lb of roach that together weighed 46lb 1oz.

Simon Eggington was second with his 36lb 8oz catch made up of 10 carp that fell to the method and pellet.

SATURDAY’S Medlock Bridge AC open match on the park lake was won by Pete Cuniffe with his pole, hemp and caster tactics working well as he tipped six chub and some perch into his net to weigh in 12lb 1oz. Second was Peter Hill with pole and maggot accounting for lots of small roach and perch that weighed 9lb 8oz.
