MOSSLEY are through to the first round proper of the FA Trophy after an eye-catching 2-1 victory over rivals Warrington Town.
The Lilywhites came flying out of the blocks against their big-spending hosts at Cantilever Park, surging into a two-goal lead in the first 12 minutes.
Andy Keogh struck first for Mossley, before Mike Fish doubled the lead which would ultimately prove enough.
It was the 85th minute before Mossley old boy Steve Foster finally registered for Warrington, but the hosts couldn’t find an equaliser.
Mossley are now flying high under joint-bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison, having won their last four games.
IT was also a terrific day in the North-West Counties League First Division for CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO.
Chaddy won 2-0 - their first win in seven gams -at league new boys Hanley Town with a first-half double blast from James Curley.
Boro’s 1-0 Seel Park success against Widnes came courtesy of Matty Knowles’ second-half strike.
But the three points weren’t enough to lift the Oldham outfit off the foot of the table.
Boro return to action tonight with an away league fixture at Atherton Collieries (7.45pm).
