Centre happy to stay put

DAVID Cookson has promised to repay the faith Oldham RL Club have shown in him by re-signing for a fifth season at Whitebank.
“I’m starting to feel part of the furniture, but that suits me because it’s a grand club to play for and there’s a good feeling in the camp,” said the big right-centre.
“It was horrible to see a full season’s work go down the drain by the narrowest of margins in the Grand Final, but we’re all getting over that now and starting to look forward to next season and fresh challenges.
“It’s going to be tough but we’ve got a good set-up and I see no reason why we can’t have another good season in a division that is sure to throw up some cracking games.”
Roughyeds coach Scott Naylor, who played centre for several years in a crack Bradford Bulls side, believes the best is yet to come from Cookson.
He said: “He’s big, strong and athletic and he has what it takes to become a very good player indeed. He’s improving all the time.”
