Angling: KEN Power had a profitable weekend with a win double.

The Tri-Cast Highfield rod demolished the opposition on the West Sooty Lake at Old Hough Farm Fishery by catching 68lb 8oz of carp to finish clear of Pete Thomas on 44lb.

Power fished the 30-peg Northern AA open on the High Lane length of the Macclesfield Canal 24 hours later.... and again he was the man to beat, catching five good perch down the middle on worm, and adding small roach and skimmers on bread punch to weigh-in just over 6lb 8oz. Dave Fowler was second with a 4lb net.

DAVE Machin made an emphatic start to the Diggle AC Sunday Winter League on Tanners Dam with nine carp and a few silvers on pole and corn for a brilliant 44lb 10oz. Mike Henshaw was some way adrift in second place with a 28lb 1oz net.

JEFF Dawson landed the spoils in the latest SADAS members match on a blustery Eagle Mill Dam.

Employing corn at nine metres, he caught skimmers and roach weighing 5lb 10oz. There was a tie for second place with Brian Murphy and Malc Taylor both weighing-in 4lb 4oz.

Joint second was good enough for Taylor to clinch the Club Championship.
