County Cup delight for hot-shot Sultan

FOOTBALL: THERE were hat-tricks galore for local players as a clutch of Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League sides competed in the County Cup.

Niall Sultan bagged three as Failsworth Athletic beat league rivals Chaddy Cot 6-3. Reece Lyndon, Levi Morris and Bernie Bernasconi completed Athletic’s tally, while Nile Barnes, Mark Hearne and Josh Class replied.

John Ryder and Nick Campbell both scored trebles as High Compton Vics saw off Manchester Swifts 7-1. Sam Quinlan also netted for Vics, while Anthony Whitehouse replied.

Jonathan Lambert scored four and Lee Bradshaw three as Failsworth thumped MVFC 8-3. Aaron Hurst also scored.

Yasir Ali, Shabir Ali, Muzzafar Ali and Sabani Karamat scored for Coppice United in their 4-2 win against Springhead Libs, who struck back through Scott Ashton and Daniel Gordon.

Fitton Hill beat Waterloo 5-3, while Rifle ‘B’ defeated Turnpike 3-0 thanks to strikes from Gaz Cregan, Nathan Barker and Jacob Davies.

Idi Lulaca (two), Tridiane Diaw, Paul Murakatete and Vano Katembe registered for Rochdale Rangers as they beat Stockport Vikings 5-1.

Oddies 14 were beaten 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out by Burnage Metro. Their clash finished 1-1 after extra-time, with Ste Dobson nettering for Oddies.

Jack Abbott Premier Division action saw Limeside King George sink Crown 4-2 thanks to Dominic Hallam (two), Jermaine Steele and Wayne Ware. Alex Caveney replied with a brace.

Chris Ollerton, Rick Ollerton, Danny O’Connell, Carl Caffrey and Josh Biddon scored for Heyside in a 5-2 success against Westwood. Abul Hussain and Farhad Jaman replied.

Nathan Eastmond pocketed a hat-trick as Rifle’A’ beat Oldham GPO 5-1, but the other highlight was a goal for ’keeper Lee Mullen, who came out of his net to slot home a penalty-kick.

Carl Beamish also scored, while Thomas Siwka netted for the posties.

Rob Flynn, David Clegg and James Osbourne neted for Cartshaft in a 3-0 David Giblin Division One win against Royton Athletic.
