Non-league football: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has ordered his players to keep up the good work in tomorrow’s crunch Evo-Stik League Division One North trip to Salford City.

The Moor Lane outfit is flying high in the table after a takeover by famed Manchester United Class of 92, which includes Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville and Ryan Giggs.

Salford remain unbeaten in the league this term under boss Phil Power, and have won all six of their home league matches.

But the Lilywhites aren’t faring badly either. They are eighth in the table and have won their last four games.

Band said: “We just need to carry playing like we have been doing. We’ve been producing some good stuff so as long as we can keep that belief in ourselves, we can go there and get a positive result.”

Mossley has been hit by unwelcome attention from Tameside neighbours Ashton United, which has given seven days’ notice of an approach for impressive young utility man Josh Granite.

If Granite leaves, it would mean moore than 10 departures to the Hurst Cross outfit, managed by former Lilywhites boss Steve Halford since summer 2013.

Band said: “It’s frustrating, but Ashton aren’t doing anything against the rules so we just have wait and see what Josh decides to do.”

CHADDERTON have received a cash boost ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against Eccleshall.

The Butterworth Street club has received a grant of £20,000 towards development of the waste land at the end of the main pitch. Officials hope to turn the space into a training area.

OLDHAM BORO face a mammoth task in the North-West Counties League Men United Cup second round when they host Bootle at Seel Park. The Merseysiders are eighth in the Premier Division.
