NETBALL:

OLDHAM Netball Club, hosting newly-promoted Turnford at Hathershaw Sports College, maintained their 100 per cent record in the National Premier League.

The high-fliers notched a 52-32 success to make it five wins out five in the competition — but coach Debbie Hallas hit out at the performance and urged her side to step up a gear.

Despite being forced to name a depleted squad, Oldham started strongly and had raced into a 18-9 lead at the first break.

Hallas kept faith with the starting seven for quarter two, and again Oldham were soon to the fore.

The advantage was 31-19 at the half-way stage, when Hallas decided to ring the changes.

Amy Neild, at goal attack, took a while to get into the game but, backed up by Enziano and Maria McAndrew at wing attack, the youngster started to create space in the circle.

At the other end Gabs Marshall was causing havoc in the Turnford attack.

Heading to the last quarter 42-26 to the good, Hallas switched things round again, reintroducing Rachel Henry and Turner back.

Turnford started the quarter brightly and Henry called a time-out for a groin injury which allowed the home team to refocus.

The game restarted and Oldham captain Kerry Almond came out on a flying intercept to set up an Oldham attack. A flurry of goals followed as Oldham eased to victory.
