Angling: ALAN Dunn won the latest Diggle AS Tuesday match fished on Tanners Dam.

His 21lb 9oz catch included five carp and some silvers which all fell to the method feeder.

Simon Eggington was second with his 20lb 10oz net made up of five carp and some silvers which fell to maggot on the hook in conjunction with a method feeder.

The club’s individual winter league, fished on Tanners Dam, was won by Pete Jones with his pole and pellet approach netting him four carp and some skimmers which together weighed 24lb 14oz.

Second best was Ian Cox with his 12lb net made up of a couple of carp and the rest skimmers taken on pole and maggot.

TWINGATES AC OAP match, which was fished on the club water, was won by Geoff White with his 16lb 4oz made up of ide, carp and skimmers taken on seven-metre pole and maggots.

Second was Tommy Smith with 8lb 12oz of mostly silvers, followed by Rod Illing's 7lb 12oz.

I COMPETED in the Mirfield Canal midweek open and found it in fine form. Winner was Keith Marshall (Tricast Calder) whose bronze pinkie over hemp snared roach weighing up to twelve ounces.

I also took part in the Burnley "knock-up " match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and it was a match I'd rather forget.

Winner was Derek Walker with his roach on bread punch and caster adding up to 3lb 4oz and an easy win.

The Wigan AA Winter League fished on the Appley Bridge lengths of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal provided me with a section second which helped my team to third.

GEOFF Dawson (Gilders) was the winner of the Saturday open match fished on the Swingbridge to Portland basin length of the Peak Forest.

Starting on bread punch at nine metres, Geoff caught skimmers before switching to caster right across late on to catch skimmers and roach which together weighed 3lb 1oz.

Tony Horton (Ashton Angling) was second with 2lb 10oz of small roach and skimmers taken on bread punch.
