FOOTBALL: HOT-shot Leighton Stephenson is in the form of his life after bagging an amazing THIRD consecutive hat-trick for Springhead.
Stephenson (30) scored his latest treble in a 5-0 thumping of Atherton Town as Springhead continued their march up the FBT Manchester League Premier Division table.
The Holts-based striker, who also turns out for Oldham Sunday League side Legends of Lees, followed up hat-tricks in a 6-3 win against Chapel Town in the league and a 4-0 West Riding County Cup romp against Ovenden. Stephenson now has 10 goals in his last four games, and 12 for the season.
The former Boundary Park Juniors and Oldham Athletic youngster said: “I’m really enjoying it at Springhead at the moment. I’m in my second season at the club and the set-up there is great.
“I just want to keep this run going now, though - I want another hat-trick in tomorrow’s game against Stockport Georgians!”
