Non-league football: PLACES in Mossley’s starting line-up are up for grabs as players gear up for tomorrow’s home clash against Brighouse Town.
Ninth-placed Mossley were beaten 3-0 at home by leaders Darlington 1883 last weekend, so several changes were made for the Doodson Cup tie against Northwich Victoria in midweek, again at Seel Park.
But the Lilywhites were crushed 5-1, leaving joint-managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison with plenty of head-scratching.
Band said: “We gave a few more unfamiliar faces some minutes on Tuesday, but most of them didn’t take their chance to impress. Lloyd and I will have to weigh up where we’re at in the run-up to the game.
“It’s not a lack of ability that’s a problem with our squad, it’s more the attitudes of some of the lads.
“Some of them think they only have to turn up to win. Brighouse are struggling at the moment, but they’ll be dangerous and we will have to be fully switched on.”
CHADDERTON will be looking to remain upwardly mobile tomorrow when they travel to Wigan Robin Park in the North-West Counties League First Division.
Chaddy saw their scheduled home fixture postponed last weekend due to the weather, but they won their previous two league fixtures.
Chadderton are currently a point ahead of Robin Park in mid-table.
Bottom club Oldham Boro will hope to build on their excellent midweek First Division Cup win against Rochdale Town as they return to league action. They travel to 11th-placed Ashton Town.
