OLDHAM Boro officials have made an impassioned appeal for help in the club’s survival fight.

The club is struggling on and off the pitch and there are fears tat without support the Boro story could soon end in tears.

Since chairman Mark Kilgannon and a newly-formed committee formed Boro in 2009 following the demise of Oldham Town, they have had an almost constant battle.

They spent three years at Oldham RL’s Whitebank Stadium and then two at Atherton Collieries FC — more than 20 miles from Oldham.

Boro are currently resident at Mossley’s Seel Park ground, but even finding the cash for day-to-day running costs is proving hard.

Kilgannon said: “It’s tough, because everyone involved with Boro works so hard with no financial reward whatsoever. We can’t even pay expenses.

“As a club we’d just appreciate a bit more from the wider footballing family. This town and this league can take in two teams in us and Chadderton, it has for years. But now, if we don’t try harder to get a little more help from sponsors and the like, this club could go under. I’m sure nobody in the area wants that.

“All I ask is that people get in touch and just come and see what this club has to offer, which is a lot.

“We have got dedicated staff here, and a talented and exciting young squad of players.”
