CRAIG FARRIMOND: the Saddleworth Rangers coach is gunning for promotion.
Rugby:
THE NEW man at the helm of Saddleworth Rangers has a straightforward goal for the coming season — promotion.
With Shane Tupaea stepping aside to focus on work commitments, former Warrington, Oldham and Rochdale forward Craig Farrimond is now officially the Greenfield club’s first-team coach.
The 31 year old believes the end-of-season charge from Rangers bodes well for the team’s chances in 2015. The final four games brought three victories in Division One of the National Conference League, taking the team out of relegatio danger.
Pre-season training has gone well and Farrimond steps up to the plate from being Tupaea’s assistant with no lack of confidence.
“We started pre-season training two weeks ago and it is going really well,” said Farrimond.
“Everyone is back with us and the numbers are good. With the way we finished last time and with the young players we have coming through, we are definitely going for promotion — no
question about it.”
