Late heartbreak for Oldham

OLDHAM felt they were on the wrong end of a couple of crucial decisions as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat at top of the table Lymm.

The game was subject to a last-minute venue change because of flooding, and it was Lymm who adapted best in the early stages. Skilful passing and ball control posed problems for Oldham, who could produce no reply and suffered a break in concentration.

Oldham began to get a foothold and levelled the score following a good run by Chidi Onuoha. She found Daisy May Ward, who fired the ball into the D for Yvonne Jackson to apply the finishing touch.

Despite some outstanding defending, especially from Oldham player of the match Amy Broadbent, the home team regained the lead.

Back came Oldham, and a deliberate foul on Louise Howard resulted in a penalty that was slotted away by Rachael Johnson.

The score remained at 2–2 until the dying minutes when Lymm were awarded a penalty corner and a controversial penalty stroke for an Oldham foot in the D despite goalkeeper Sarah Simpson clearly being positioned behind the player. Lymm capitalised on both.
