Duo is double tops in third-round thriller

OLDHAM XI secured a 6-5 victory against Cartshaft in a Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy third-round thriller.

Tom Breza and Paul Stevenson both scored twice for Oldham, with Tom Hickey and Liam Ure completing their tally.

Rob Flynn (two), Steve Ormrod, Adam Bell and Aaron McDermott registered for Cartshaft.

Limeside King George defeated old rivals Rifle ‘A’ 4-2 thanks to strikes from Dominic Hallam (two), Wayne Ware and Jermaine Steele. Ryan Hobin and Nathan Eastmond replied.

In the Challenge Cup second round, Callum Beckett bagged four goals as Carrion Crow defeated Streetbridge 6-4. Scott Edge and Lee Kerwin also netted.

Azuka Drameh and Shabir Ali pounced for Coppice United in a 2-1 success at FC Failsworth.

Niall Sultan struck a hat-trick for Failsworth Athletic as they edged out High Crompton Victoria 4-3.

Josh Beresford also scored for Athletic, with Darren Longden (two) and John Ryder responding for the Vics.

Jordan Schofield, Danny O’Connell and Carl Caffrey scored for Heyside in a 3-1 win at Horseshoe, for whom Ashley Ainsworth replied.

Jack Abbott Premier Division action saw Fitton Hill crush Crown 6-1 thanks to goals from Callum Franklin (three), Arron Buckley (two) and Teo Coleman.

The only game in David Giblin Division One saw Rifle ‘B’ thump Springhead Libs 4-0. Nathan Barker (three) and Callum Standring got the goals.

Martin Buckley Division Two high-fliers Legends of Lees edged out Blue Club 3-2 thanks to Gareth Armstead (two) and David Hodgkins. Sam Leigh’s brace was in vain.

Ricky Cropper (two), Danny Simpson (two) and Ste Dobson netted for Oddies 14 in a 5-1 victory against White House.

Meanwhile, the Oldham Sunday League representative team triumphed 4-1 at Hyde last Thursday in their latest Three-Counties Inter-League Trophy clash.
