Five-star Fitton Hill in County Cup romp

THERE were mixed fortunes for Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League sides in the Manchester County Cup competition.

Fitton Hill fared best of all, triumphing 5-1 at Halton Juniors.

On target were Callum Franklin (two), Tieo Coleman, Kane Radcliffe and Mark Hope.

Heyside enjoyed a terrific 8-5 home win against league rivals Carrion Crow.

Rick Ollerton (three), Josh Briddon (two), Ryan Barnes (two) and Jordan Schofield netted for Heyside, while Scott Edge (two), Callum Beckett, Steve Palfreyman and Paul Standring replied.

Nathan Barker (two) and Ashley Williams scored for Rifle ‘B’ as they went down 4-3 to Commie Bees.

High Crompton Victoria lost 3-1 at Winton Wanderers.

In the league’s Challenge Cup second round, Oldham XI won 6-3 at Rochdale Rangers thanks to Robert Quinlan (two), Jack Holmes, Liam Ure, Paul Stevenson and David Cross.

Davis Murekatete, Ezequel Mirandy and Nima Tamang replied for Rangers.

Dom Hallam bagged a hat-trick as leaders Limeside King George cruised to a 5-0 Jack Abbott Premier Division win against Westwood.

Wayne Ware and Joe Heap also netted.

Ryan Hobin (two), Johnny Munson, Nathan Eastmond, Chris Pauley and Ste Cass scored for Rifle ‘A’ in a 6-4 win at Coppice United.

Replying for the hosts were Tufail Ahmed (two), Karamet Sabani and Waqas Younis.

Niall Sultan and Jack Turnbull bagged a brace apiece as Failsworth Athletic defeated Oldham GPO 4-0.

Chaddy Cot enjoyed a cracking 9-5 win against Limeside Athletic in David Giblin Division One.

Niles Barnes (three), Chris McDonald (two), Mark Buckley, Mark Shaw, Josh Cass and Jordan Bamford scored for the Cot, while Dave Shaw (two), Stuart Skibinski (two) and Declan Sandiford replied.

Springhead Libs won 4-3 at Cartshaft, for whom Rob Flynn (two) and Andrew Oakes netted.

There were goals galore in Martin Buckley Division Two, led by Alt Athletic’s 6-5 win at Horseshoe.

Ste Barrow (four), Carl Diveney and Curtis Norris notched for Alt, with Ash Ainsworth (two), Callum Willis, Aaron Flanagan and Daniel Jackson responding.

Mike Cooper (two), Ryan Robson, James Wilson and Clayton Kilroy scored for Manchester Swifts in a 5-4 success at Streetbridge.

Jordan Hall (three) and Karl Hallas hit back.

Jordan Holt (three) and Matt Bowyer registered for White House as they edged out Houghton Arms 4-3.

Tom Heap, Sean McKay and Arron McLaughlin replied.
