Win takes juniors on route 66

OLDHAM Netball Club’s under-16s remain unbeaten in the North-West qualifying competition after a convincing 66–24 defeat of Denton.

Playing some great offensive netball, they were 24-6 ahead after the first quarter, with shooter Lucy Stevenson boasting a 100-per-cent record (20 out of 20).

Emma Fairclough did not look out of place after stepping up from the under-15s for the first time.

Oldham made a series of changes throughout the remainder of the game to give valuable court time to the squad.

o MAYAH Hopkinson was the player-of-the-match for Oldham Netball Club’s under-11s as they swept aside Trafford ‘A’ 44-13 in a County League match.

Injuries and illness left the squad a little depleted, but the girls were up for the challenge.

Lily Mundy, Louise Hopkinson and Molly Stevenson fed some accurate balls into the shooting circle.

Goal attacks Imogen Raftery and Emma Fletcher provided the movement needed to keep the Trafford defenders guessing where the ball was coming in from.

Helena Robinson had the most intercepts with five, while Mayah Hopkinson scored all but two of the goals — she only missed twice from 44 attempts for shooting ratio rate of 95-per-cent

OLDHAM Netball Club’s under-14s brought up a half-century of points as they defeated hosts Warrington 50-18 in the North-West Junior League.

The pace of the visitors’ attack was a constant thorn in the Cheshire outfit’s side, while the consistent shooting of Mia Robinson and Rosette Luamba maintained a constant flow of points.

Goal attack Hannah Fletcher and goal shooter Rebecca Tudor were to the fore in the first half, so too Eleyna Flitcroft and Olivia Woodcock, who worked hard in defence, along with Amira Mirza and Alicia Scholes.

The half-time score of 23-9 was extended to 34-13 after three quarters.

Even with the match won, Oldham did not let up and against their tiring hosts.

Woodcock was the player-of-the-match for her countless interceptions in defence.
