Springhead collapse to Duki defeat

Date published: 19 December 2014

IT was a day of acute disappointment for Springhead as they were beaten 3-0 at high-flying Dukinfield Town in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division.

The local outfit matched their Tameside hosts throughout the first period, and the score remained goalless at the interval.

However, Dukinfield upped the tempo after the restart and strikes from Daniel Parkinson (two) and Damien Healy wrapped up a well-deserved three points.

Town remain in fifth place in the table, while Springhead are languishing in 11th.

Royton Town’s Premier Division trip to Atherton Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, so they will hope to get tomorrow’s scheduled home fixture against Chapel Town on.

Avro saw their Gilgryst Cup clash at East Manchester called off, so they will try to get that game on again tomorrow.

Springhead are also in Gilgryst Cup action as they welcome Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Despite having no fixture last weekend, Uppermill maintained their healthy four-point lead at the top of Division One.

Uppermill also face a knock-out clash tomorrow as they head to Irlam Steel in the Murray Trophy.

Hollinwood slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against Beechfield United.

The visitors leap-frogged ’Wood in the table, and another tough task awaits tomorrow in the form of an away league trip to high-flying Boothstown.
