Moorside 0, 3D Dynamos 3

MOORSIDE surrendered top spot in Division Four of the Huddersfield and District League after a crushing defeat at the hands of local rivals 3D Dynamos at Clayton playing fields.

In what was a crucial six-pointer, Dynamos rose better to the occasion and moved up to third place in the table, with a game in hand on Moorside.

Dynamos were first to display their attacking mettle when Danny McLaughlin’s clever flick from eight yards flew agonisingly wide of an upright after 13 minutes.

Moorside’s Connor Grimsley should have done much better than fire wide of an open goal soon after – albeit from an angle – whereas Dave Taylor outlined Dynamos’ intent when his angled effort struck a post.

McLaughlin was denied again six minutes before half-time courtesy of a super stop from Moorside

goalkeeper Reece Taylor, before the deadlock was finally broken three minutes later.

Nik Lishman’s superbly-struck free-kick rattled a post before rebounding kindly into the path of Jamie Cunningham, who fired the ball home from eight yards to give Dynamos the lead.

Moorside’s attempts to claw their way back into the game in a similarly tight second period saw them adopt a three-man back line.

But Dynamos exploited the additional space at the back with a Michael Bainbridge 20-yard chip after 75 minutes and then, with two minutes to go, a neat Lishman lob from the edge of the Moorside penalty area.
