Non-league football: PETER Band has urged his Mossley players to build on an impressive run of form over Christmas.

The Lilywhites picked up seven points from the three games in that period, with last weekend’s goalless draw at league-leaders Northwich Victoria the most pleasing.

Mossley joint-boss Band said: “To be honest we could have nicked a victory at Northwich late on.

“They were well-organised, but we went with a 4-5-1 formation and kept it tight.

“When he changed tactics, we combated their threat and in the end I thought we were good value for a point. We need to try to build on these good results now. String a few wins together and you can be right up there.

Despite minimal injury worries, Band and fellow joint-boss Lloyd Morrison were still on the look-out for a new striker ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against Burscough, who are two places behind Mossley in 12th.

Midfielder Tom Dean is ruled out with a groin injury, while defender Caldon Henson is rated as 50/50.

CHADDERTON, December’s North-West Counties League First Division club of the month, will hope to extend their seven-match unbeaten league run against ninth-placed Northwich Flixton Villa.

Should Chadderton win at Villa, they would leapfrog their opponents and zoom menacingly into the top half of the table.

OLDHAM BORO’s woes show no signs of dissipating. Already cut adrift at the bottom of the table, they head to table-topping Cammell Laird 1907 tomorrow.
