Mossley eye big chance

Non-League: IT’S derby day for Mossley in the Evo-Stik League Division One North tomorrow, and joint-boss Peter Band is hoping his players can capitalise on Droylsden’s recent inconsistency.

Dave Pace’s Bloods side are currently in fourth place in the table – Mossley are 10th – but their form has been patchy ahead of the big Tameside set-to at the Butchers Arms.

Band said: “Droylsden are undoubtedly a good side and they like to play good football, but their form has been a bit up and down lately.

“They beat top of the table Salford City, but then drew with struggling Prescot Cables and lost against Clitheroe. We beat them 4-2 at home earlier in the season when we’d been 3-0 up almost straight away, so hopefully this weekend we can catch them on another bad day.”

Mossley, who have picked up eight points from their last four league games, have a number of injury and illness doubts.

OLDHAM BORO, who are rooted to the bottom of the North-West Counties League First Division table having lost their last seven games, will bid to stop the rot tomorrow when they host an Eccleshall side who are just three places above them in the table.

CHADDERTON officials will be hoping for a bumper crowd when they host Northern Counties East League outfit AFC Mansfield in the FA Carlsberg Vase fourth round tomorrow (3pm).

Mansfield play at an equivalent level to Chaddy, who would be just three games away from a dream Wembley Stadium final if they win.
