Angling: MARK Derbyshire of Tight Lines, Shaw took first place in the fourth round of the Twingate AC Winter League fished on the club waters.

Steve Baines, also of Tight Lines, Shaw, was second with 2lb 4oz of small carp and skimmers.

THE Old Hough Farm open match, which was moved to the more sheltered Woody End and Moses Lakes, saw Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) put 26lb 15oz of mainly skimmers, tench, ide and roach on six-metre pole and maggot. Kevin Twigg (Edgeley Sports) was second with 23lb 8oz of small mirrors and commons.

JAMES Cantello (Tri-Cast Highfield) won the Northern AA open match fished on the Higher Poynton length of the Macclesfield Canal.

Dave Holland (Tri-Cast Highfield ) was second with 45 roach caught on bread punch fished across to a moored boat to weigh in 1lb 1oz.

THE second round of the Todmorden AS teams-of-three winter league fished on Croft Fishery and the lorry park length of the Rochdale Canal was tough as the low temperatures forced some anglers to break the ice.

John Mellor (Rochdale Angling Centre) took the best weight on Croft, with nine carp on the bomb and bread together weighing 18lb 3oz. Next came Adam Kitson (Three Amigos) with 15lb 7oz of mostly carp taken on the tip.
