CLUBS will see the blueprint of a Greater Manchester Cricket League by the start of the new season.

A prospectus will be presented to the working group by mid-April then released to league clubs late in the month.

Steering Group chairman Martin Kay said: “It adds a little pressure, but we appear to be off to a great start. It looks a very exciting prospect.”

The working groups feature administrators from seven of the Greater Manchester leagues, umpires, players and junior co-ordinators.

They are focusing on:

::Juniors and age-group cricket.

::Discipline, protests and appeals.

::Registrations, transfers and applicants.

::Commercial and finance.

::Criteria including performance, grounds, facilities, promotion and relegation.

::Criteria including playing rules, conditions and open leagues.

::Cup competitions.

::Umpires and scorers.

::Results and statistics; a website and social media.

The proposed Greater Manchester pyramid system would feature an Elite Division and other sections based on strength and geographical factors.
