Angling: GEOFF White took first place in the latest of the Twingates OAP matches on the club water.

His single carp weighed in at 10lb 9oz.

Dave Wolstenholme netted second with a level 5lb of ide and skimmers taken on pole and maggot, just pipping Dave White by the odd ounce as he tipped 4lb 15oz of small carp, ide and skimmers on to the scales.

Mark Derbyshire (Tight Lines) took first place in the latest Twingates AC Winter League match, with his 10lb 1oz catch made up of skimmers taken on the tip, and ide tempted by maggot fished on the pole.

PETE Mottram is the man to beat on Croft as he proved once again with yet another win in the Todmorden AS members-only match. Mottram fished popped-up bread for small carp and chopped worm and caster for some silvers that together weighed in at 19lb 5oz.

Rob McKendry fished an almost identical match to the winner, but fell just a fish or two short as he weighed in a second-best 17lb 3oz of carp and silvers. Todmorden AS waters are getting more fish on March 12.

JUST because it’s winter doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of fish being caught. Plenty of north-west waters are throwing up big weights.

One is Partridge Fisheries, where there is a match every day. In Monday’s OAP and Disabled match, Dave Blears tipped a massive 51lb 8oz of carp on to the scales Eddie Battersby was second with a 46lb 6oz net of f1s and carp.

Chadderton-based John Jones (Garbolino Elton) continued his good run at Partridge, taking second in the 50-peg open match on Covey Lakes with pellet fished over micros accounting for 53lb 3oz of f1s and carp.
