FOOTBALL ROUND-UP: HORSESHOE hit double figures as they stunned White Hart 10-0 in the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League Martin Buckley Division Two.

And Ash Ainsworth was the undoubted star for the victors, taking SEVEN of the goals. Michael Lawrence, Andrew Benson and Daniel Jackson were also on target.

The Dog had Chris Keightley and Gareth Ashworth on target in a 2-2 draw against Blue Club. Ben Foster and Ben Green replied.

FC Failsworth beat Carrion Crow 4-0 in one of three David Giblin Division One fixtures.

Westwood were the big winners in the President’s Trophy competition.

They had Farhad Chowdhury (two), Asa Davies (two) and Delwar Hussain on target in a 5-0 thumping of hosts Oldham XI.

Failsworth Athletic also made progress, triumphing 4-0 at White House thanks to a super hat-trick from Niall Sultan and an own goal.

Urma Khatab and Turail Ahmed pounced for Coppice United as they prevailed 2-0 at Limeside Athletic.

HEYSIDE finally made it though to the quarter-finals of the Huddersfield League Barlow Cup after seeing off divisional rivals KKS Spartans 10-9 on penalties.

Geoff Howard’s side, unbeaten in 11 league games, should have had little difficulty in despatching KKS, who are bottom of Division Two.

But the score was 2-2 at full-time after Gary Schofield and James Leonard – with his 25th goal of the season – had netted for Heyside.

In the penalty shoot-out, Heyside scored three out of five, with Daniel Dunn and Leonard missing, while the visitors also missed two.

All the rest of the players (including goalkeeper Jack Suttie) scored, so the sequence began again.

AFC OLDHAM took a welcome 1-0 victory at Old Ashtonians in the Lancashire and Cheshire League Premier Division.

In Division One, Santos were sent crashing back down to earth after the previous weekend’s victory when they were thumped 8-1 at Burnage Metro.

CHADDERTONIANS ground out a 1-0 win against Old Boltonians reserves in Division One of the Lancashire Amateur League.

HAUGHTON Arms failed to attend a disciplinary meeting on Monday and has been expelled from the Oldham Sunday League.
