OLDHAM teenage potting sensation Aaron Davies is the new European junior pool champion.
Seventeen-year-old Oldham College student Aaron, who is also a snooker and billiards star, won the European title in Malta by defeating Ireland’s Jordan Sinnott 7-5 in a thrilling final.
Aaron was there to compete with the England pool team, but returned home delighted with a huge trophy after winning the individual tournament.
Aaron’s proud dad Martin said: “Aaron played superbly throughout. He made steady progress until the quarter-final stage, where he met old rival Adam Maher. Aaron won that 5-0 and never looked back.
There were hundreds of people watching and Aaron was buzzing when he won.”
Aaron is now gearing up for a tilt at the World Junior Championships at Blackpool’s Imperial Hotel in June.
Aaron’s younger brother Ryan (12) is also making waves on the snooker circuit. This weekend the Newman College pupil heads off to the prestigious Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds where he will compete in the English under-14s and under-16s championships.
