Santos slump

FOOTBALL: SANTOS suffered more misery in Division One of the Lancashire and Cheshire League as they slumped to a 4-1 home defeat against Abacus Media.

In the top flight, AFC Oldham were edged out 2-1 at home by Old Ashtonians. Oldham Victoria were beaten 3-1 at Deans in Division Three.

Meanwhile, the Lancashire and Cheshire Inter-League side looked on the way to a great win over the Liverpool League in the first match of the Jeff Walton Memorial Trophy as they went into injury time with a 3-1 lead.

Their opponents had been reduced to 10 men with a red card, but showed their determination as in eight-minutes of added time as they scored twice to earn a point in a 3-3 deadlock.

Netting for the L and C were Whalley Range duo Liam Bennion (two) and Connor Downes

The L and C now need to beat the West Lancs League in their fixture at Wren Rovers to ensure their place in the next stage.



IT was derby day in FBT Manchester League Division One, with Hollinwood eventually taking the spoils with a 4-2 win against Chadderton reserves.

High-flying Uppermill were stunned 4-2 at Boothstown. Andy Pheby and Jordan Stepien were on target for Uppermill.

Royton Town were held to a 1-1 home draw by Hindsford in the only local game in the Premier Division.

Town will hope to bounce back with a more positive result when they travel to AFC Monton.

Avro return with a home clash against Wythenshawe Amateurs, while Springhead travel to Prestwich Heys.



FAILSWORTH Dynamos produced a super performance as they defeated Little Lever SC 6-2 in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division. There was also a thumping display from Chaddertonians, who won 5-2 at Roach Dynamos in Division One.
