Athletic stunned by Carrion treble stars

FOOTBALL: CARRION Crow were the big scorers again in the latest round of Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League fixtures.
They crushed Royton Athletic 8-0 in the David Giblin Division One Shield as Aaron Turner and Ste Palfreyman both bagged hat-tricks.
Danny Fitzhugh and Ashley Grant were also on target.
Rifle ‘A’ suffered double knock-out disappointment, starting last Friday when they slumped 4-0 at Lancashire ICE in the North-West Champion of Champions’ Cup.
Paddy McGuirk’s men were then beaten 4-1 in the Jack Abbott Premier Division Shield by Coppice United, whose scorers were Azuka Otuto (two), Umar Khatab and Waqas Younis.
Failsworth Athletic made progress as they triumphed 3-1 at Oldham GPO thanks to Niall Sultan (two) and Ilgner Miruky. Mike King netted for the posties.
Limeside King George were also well beaten in the Champion of Champions’ Cup, 6-1 by Middleton Colts. See Match of the Day.
Springhead Libs secured a 2-0 David Giblin Division one victory against FC Failsworth thanks to strikes from Jack McGarry and Daniel Gordon.
In Martin Buckley Division Two, Oddies 14 prevailed 2-1 at Blue Club courtesy of Mike Casson and Ste Donson. Michael Wood replied.
Manchester Swifts had Danny Allot (two), Kiran Milne and Joe Jackson on the mark in a 4-1 win against Legends of Lees.
