Mossley respond to cool approach

THE calm approach appears to be working for Mossley joint-bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison.

The Lilywhites are currently flying high in the Evo-Stik League Division One North table. They are in sixth place - the final play-off position - after Tuesday’s Seel Park comeback win against promotion rivals Farsley. The main challenge is now to stay there with six games to go.

Mossley will be strongly fancied to take another three points tomorrow against mid-table Harrogate Railway Athletic at Seel Park.

“Harrogate haven’t really got much to play for now,” added Band. “They’re safe – they’re not going up or down. But that doesn’t always necessarily work in your favour: the lads have to remain fully focused.

“Five wins from our final six games should be enough to secure our place in the play-offs, I reckon, but after that it’s a whole new challenge.”

Tom Dean should be available after shaking off a knee injury, but Matty Purcell is unavailable as he is away on his FA Level 2 coaching course. Sam Robinson is back in training following injury, but he isn’t fully fit yet.

CHADDERTON and OLDHAM Boro are back in North-West Counties League First Division action after contrasting fortunes in midweek.

After beating AFC Darwen on Wednesday, play-off chasing Chaddy face much the sterner test of the two as they host third-placed Hanley Town.

Boro, who still prop up the table following a midweek reverse at Cheadle Town, may well fancy their chances as they travel to fourth-bottom Irlam.
