RFL will rule on Oldham cup date

A DISAGREEMENT between Oldham and North Wales Crusaders over a new date for their postponed iPro Sport Cup semi-final at Whitebank has been referred to the sport’s governing body for a ruling.
Roughyeds want to play on the evening of April 8, while Crusaders favour the following Wednesday, April 15. Neither club will budge, so the RFL will make the decision later today.
“We are holding fast for April 8 because both clubs would then face three games in 10 days as opposed to three in eight days if we played a week later,” said Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton..
“Also, if the RFL go with our proposal, both clubs will have more time to prepare for the final and thus give it the credence it deserves.”
Both clubs play their opening games in League One this Friday, Oldham going to Rochdale and Crusaders to Swinton.
On April 12 Roughyeds are at home to Coventry and Crusaders entertain Newcastle Thunder. On April 19 Oldham go to South Wales Scorpions while Crusaders travel to York City Knights.
