FOOTBALL: HEYSIDE won the Huddersfield League Division Two title in some style as they crushed KKS Spartans 8-2.

The floodgates opened when Rick Ollerton chipped over the goalkeeper from 20 yards.

Ryan Barnes and Daniel Dunn both hit the woodwork, before James Leonard notched from close range.

Dunn made it 3-0 soon after as Heyside threatened to put on a big score in their penultimate home game.

A rare KKS break saw them pull a goal back, before Chris Ollerton made it 4-1 just before the interval.

Sub Nathan Tossum got in on the act after the restart, before Leonard bagged his 36th goal of a prolific

season with a close-range strike.

The seventh came when Tossum slotted in his second of the game following good work from defender Gary Schofield.

KKS grabbed another goal in the 75th minute, before Jack Suttie, the sub goalkeeper, came on to play

outfield and scored to make it 8-2.

The champagne followed as the team celebrated a fantastic first season in charge for Geoff Howard, Lee Clough and Tom Hardman.

“What a way to win the title,” said Howard. “I’m absolutely delighted for the boys. They’re a top set of lads and deserve the title, having only lost once in 20 games.”

Diggle edged out Hepworth United 1-0 in Division One, while Daniel McLoughlin (three), Nick Lishman (two), Craig Pole and Dave Ashton scored for 3D Dynamos in a thumping 7-1 Division Four win against Almondbury Woolpack.

Danny Clayton (two), Phil Butterworth and Ryan Hughes netted for Uppermill in a 4-1 win at Mount.

There was penalty joy for 3D Dynamos reserves as they edged Cumberworth ‘A’ out of the Gee Cup.

Tom Milnes netted both goals for the Dynamos as the game ended 2-2 after extra-time.

The local outfit then prevailed 4-1 in the penalty shoot-out.
