Mossley eyeing Premier delight

Non-league football: MOSSLEY get the chance to secure some silverware tonight after a terrific season under joint bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison.

There is still some disappointment that the Lilywhites just missed the Evo-Stik League Division One North play-offs. A Manchester Premier Cup final win tonight against Curzon Ashton at SportsDirect.com Park would be a perfect pick-me-up ahead of Saturday’s final match of the season.

Mossley will certainly go into the prestige tie against their Tameside neighbours in good nick.

After realising the end of their top six dream last week with a draw at home against Harrogate Railway Athletic, the Lilywhites thumped Clitheroe 4-1 on Saturday.

Band said: “We are still reflecting on what might have been , but if we can win the Premier Cup we’ll all be over the moon.”

If Mossley can see off John Flanagan’s Premier Division high-flyers Curzon tonight it would mean a third Premier Cup success in four years.

Band added: “It’s a prestigious trophy to win. I’m not sure what kind of team Curzon will put out because they’re still right in the promotion frame in their division, but as long as we concentrate on our own strengths then we can get a result.”

The final kicks-off at 7.45pm. Admission is £8 for adults and £4 for over-65s. Under-16s get in free.

FC UNITED secured the Evo-Stik Premier Division title last night with a 1-0 home win against Stourbridge.
