Last hurrah for Lilywhites

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY are set for one last push tomorrow as they wrap up a hugely impressive Evo-Stik League Division One North campaign at Ossett Albion.

Despite having a comparitively small playing budget for their level, the midweek Manchester Premier Cup winners have been up with the chasing pack for most of the season.

They have just missed out on the play-offs, but the chance to finish sixth in the table is one joint-manager Peter Band doesn’t want to let slip.

The final shoot-out win against Curzon Ashton means there will be intense competition for the final starting place at the Warehouse Systems Stadium tomorrow.

Band said: “Certainly the lads that played in the cup final won’t want to miss the last league game now.

“There were a few saying they were tired after the game on Wednesday. But we had a number of players who weren’t even in Wednesday’s squad that can come in and do a good job. Let’s finish as high as we can and then reflect in the summer.”

Defender John Bennett, who scored in the Premier Cup final after just eight seconds, is the only definite absentee for the Ossett trip due to suspension. The Lilywhites are currently level on points with Scarborough Athletic in the race to finish sixth. The East coast outfit travel to Kendal Town tomorrow.

CHADDERTON are in pole position to reach the North-West Counties League First Division play-offs thanks to last night’s thumping 6-1 derby win at Oldham Boro.

The visitors to Seel Park were always on top, and roared to victory thanks to hat-trick man Niall Sultan (including penalty), James Curley, Sean Sherwood and Adam Turner. Saul Ashworth replied.

Chaddy have now sneaked into the final play-off place ahead of Barnton, so a win tomorrow in their final game of the season at Ashton Town will definitely keep them there.

Rock-bottom Boro wrap up with an away game at Atherton LR.
